How to store your coffee
Storing coffee properly is key to keeping it fresh and flavorful. Once roasted, coffee begins to lose its aroma and taste-so how you store it matters more than most people think.
Here are a few simple best practices:
- Keep it airtight – Exposure to oxygen causes beans to go stale. Use containers with airtight seals.
- Avoid light – Store in opaque containers. Light breaks down coffee oils and speeds up aging.
- Stay cool-but not in the fridge – Keep coffee in a cool, dry place. Avoid the fridge or freezer (moisture = flavor killer).
- Buy whole beans – Ground coffee goes stale faster. Grind just before brewing for the best taste.
- Use it within 2-4 weeks – Most coffees peak around 7-14 days after roasting, and start losing complexity after a month.
Fact: Coffee can lose up to 70% of its aroma just 15 minutes after grinding.
We always recommend storing beans in a vacuum-sealed container at room temperature-it’s simple, and it works.
